Amazing Homemade Apple Butter

This amazing homemade apple butter is rich, smooth, and packed with deep apple flavor and warm spices. Slow-cooked to perfection, it develops a naturally sweet, caramelized taste that’s perfect for spreading on toast, biscuits, or adding to desserts. It’s a classic fall favorite you can enjoy all year long.
Ingredients
- 10 pounds apples, quartered
- 4 cups unsweetened apple juice
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon ground cloves
- ½ teaspoon ground allspice
- 6 half-pint canning jars with lids and rings

Directions
- Place apples and apple juice in a large stockpot. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 20–30 minutes until apples are very soft.
- Transfer the cooked apples to a food mill and process into a smooth puree, discarding cores and peels.
- Pour the puree into a slow cooker and cook on High with the lid off until the mixture thickens and reduces by about half, anywhere from overnight up to 24 hours.
- Stir in sugar, apple cider vinegar, cinnamon, cloves, and allspice.
- Continue cooking on High for another 2–6 hours, until the mixture thickens and holds its shape on a chilled plate without liquid separating.
- Sterilize jars and lids in boiling water for at least 5 minutes.
- Carefully fill hot jars with apple butter, leaving about ¼ inch space at the top. Remove air bubbles and wipe rims clean.
- Seal with lids and rings.
- Process jars in a boiling water bath for 5–10 minutes.
- Remove and let cool completely. Check seals before storing in a cool, dark place.
