Homemade Apple Hand Pies

These homemade apple hand pies are golden, flaky, and filled with a warm cinnamon apple filling that tastes just like a classic apple pie—only better and more portable. Perfect for snacks, desserts, or even on-the-go treats, they’re easy to make and absolutely irresistible.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 large green apples, peeled, cored, and cut into chunks
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- ¼ cup white sugar
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon water (optional, as needed)
- 1 pound prepared pie dough, cut into 4 pieces
- 1 egg
- 2 teaspoons milk
- 1 teaspoon white sugar (for topping)

Directions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter and cook until lightly browned and fragrant.
- Add apples, white sugar, brown sugar, and salt. Cook and stir for about 5 minutes until apples begin to soften.
- Stir in cinnamon and a little water if needed. Continue cooking for 1–2 minutes until apples are soft and slightly sticky.
- Transfer the filling to a plate and allow it to cool.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll each piece of dough into an 8-inch circle on a floured surface.
- Spoon about 1/3 to 1/2 cup apple filling into the center of each circle.
- Fold the dough over the filling and press edges to seal.
- Fold and crimp the edges tightly using your fingers to secure the filling inside.
- Place pies onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Whisk egg and milk together, then brush over each pie. Sprinkle with sugar.
- Cut small vents in the top of each pie.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbling.
- Let cool for at least 15 minutes before serving.
